"Go green" say Jessop and Cook

In a recent RIBA newsletter, Dan Wadsworth of Jessop and Cook told other Royal Institute of British Architects members how they had taken steps to minimise thier carbon footprint - including using STL's GreenMinutes.

Says Dan, "As architects, we like to think of ourselves at the forefront of the green movement. We like to advise potential clients on how we can help to make their buildings more environmentally friendly and reduce their carbon footprint. Sometimes we even try to persuade clients to keep the more expensive elements of a project that will help to make their building greener. But how many of us practice what we preach in our own businesses?"

On the subject of GreenMinutes he adds,"We have abandoned a well known national telephone company for a new internet-based telephone system through STL Communications. We use their GreenMinutes initiative so that all our telephone calls are carbon neutral."

He concludes "Our practice is far from perfectly green: I still drive to meetings almost every day, although our next goal when funds are available is to obtain a pool bicycle and even an electric car."
